“This is the upgrade.”
That’s what my spirit guide Zeke (my holy guardian angel, or HGA) whispered in my mind, over and over, as I toured the potential new retreat venue with my husband and my biz sister friend.
Let me backtrack just a bit.
This week I’ve been leading my fourth annual in-person Writing From the Heart retreat on the coast here in Maine. Six amazing creatives joined me for a week of writing, magick, and transformation.
A couple of months ago, I was introduced to someone who is connected with a new retreat venue, about 15 minutes from the one where we’ve been gathering. The place where we’ve been is on an enchanted peninsula, where the energy is quiet, powerful, and conducive to the work we’re doing.
The house itself, though, is old, with mold in the basement, no air conditioning, and other issues that have kept some folks from attending. The issues have begun to outweigh its seaside cottage charm.
I’d also been getting nudges from Zeke about enlivening the retreat part of my business, so I was open to taking inspired actions.
Since I’d been in town anyway, I set up a tour for this week, and asked my biz sister friend, who has attended all four of these retreats, to join us.
I’d made a list of the pros and cons of the current venue, and turned the pros into a “must have” and “would be nice” list for the potential new place.
Almost as soon as we arrived for the tour, the space - and the people who run it - began blowing the list out of the water. Guys, it’s my dream venue. There are books in all the public spaces - and there’s also a library. There’s a labyrinth. Porches for days. Gorgeous spaces, inside and out.
We had agreed ahead of time that we’d be relying on our inner guidance, the input from our guides, when deciding whether to change to this new venue. When my friend and I stepped outside to confer, I’d already been hearing the “this is the upgrade” mantra on repeat. I asked my friend what guidance she was getting.
Her response? “They’re saying, ‘are you ready for the upgrade?’”
This was on the second full day of the retreat. Throughout the remaining days, each and every one of the retreat participants received upgrades of their own.
Of course, they wrote words, edited manuscripts, created outlines, and did the work that they came here to do.
But they also increased their pricing, received downloads of offers, got messages from ancestors, received unexpected gifts & deals, released challenging clients, and much, much more.
The message that we all received is that it’s time for an upgrade.
The way to receive the upgrades, without struggle and angst, is to allow yourself to be guided by your inner wisdom. It’s about aligning with your Triple Self (more on that in a future post), letting your creativity flow, and letting yourself be led.
Creativity isn’t just about the writing or painting or podcasting that we choose to do. We are co-creating our lives in each moment. We can become Thriving Artists, and allow ourselves to expand into the life of our dreams - while having a whole lot of fun.
YOU can do this, if you want.
I’d been thinking of creating a space here on Substack, after seeing what others have been doing with it, but I hadn’t moved forward yet. One of my retreat attendees told me this morning that she’d put together a Substack, started posting, and her reach had begun expanding rapidly. Her experience with it was all positive.
I heard that little voice inside my head, saying “you should do it, too!” So here I am.
I’m going to post as often as I’m led to share, but probably weekly-ish, with the intent of sharing inspiration, encouragement, magick, and creativity with you. I want you to feel empowered to be your weird authentic wild creative self, and to in turn share yourself with your communities.
Because this world sure does need more conscious co-creators. Let’s open ourselves to the upgrade - heart, mind, body, and spirit. Are you ready?!
